Devynn Johnson {Senior}

Image

Devynn asked me to do her senior pictures and of course I jumped on it! She is absolutely gorgeous. And she is a photographer herself so it made it extra fun. We chatted about me getting started in photography and our likes and dislikes about portrait photography in particular. Being on the varsity volleyball team, Devynn’s schedule wasn’t that wide open. But we fit her in right before she started traveling every weekend. We intend to do another shoot when her life slows down a bit. Here is the first batch of previews. Enjoy!

Cliff, Jen and the kids

There was quite the coordinating to finally schedule a shoot for Jen’s family pictures. Between her work schedule and our travel schedules, we were cutting it awfully close to the first snow. And that we did! It snowed the very next day after we did her pictures. But that was ok because they were a very pleasant family to shoot and the fall colors were still vibrant. I had a blast doing these pictures. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek :D .

Grandma’s baby girl

This fall was a roller coaster of emotion for me and my family. Ups and downs. I lost my mother a little over a week ago, the hardest thing that I have ever had to experience. It was especially hard because I knew how much her grandkids meant to her. Becoming a mother myself opened a whole new door of sensitivity that I never knew I had. Being a mother, you relate other peoples experiences to your own and always think of your children. Being a mother, didn’t only open a door of worry and what-ifs, it opened a door of joy and an unconditional love for my child and the one on the way. My daughter, Neva had a special place in her grandma’s heart and will always miss her. It’s been a while since I posted pictures of Neva, but today I am. I hope you enjoy my little sunshine as much as my mom did and I still do :D

Taylor Pomeranz {SENIOR 2013}

Image

Miss Taylor Pomeranz. Already going to be a senior at Nome-Beltz. I remember when this chick was born! Gosh that makes me feel old. Taylor is the last of the Pomeranz family to graduate from high school. The last one to “leave the nest”. If you thought the NBHS sports program was dominated in the past by a Pomeranz, you should see Taylor kill it at the volleyball net. She really blossomed into a great athlete and a beautiful young lady. I was also shocked at how much of Jacob and Rachel come out in Taylor’s images. I almost had to take a double glance while editing :) . I had a blast shooting her 2013 senior portraits. A little trespassing and explaining (lol) really paid of for these puppies. Taylor, congratulations and make the best of your senior year. It goes by faster than you know it!

So Taylor is really good about arranging sessions with me in advance. She made sure that we had a date blocked out this summer for a photo shoot. It wasn’t specified and I didn’t ask because it was so in advance. Low and behold she had a bun in the oven! Her little blessing wasn’t made obvious until later in her pregnancy of course. I know this because I saw her right when she entered her second trimester and could tell a thing! I wish I was this cute when I carry(ed) my pregnancies :D . When I found out what kind of photo shoot we were planning I was ecstatic! I was so happy for her and her growing family because I have been in her shoes and know how I felt. Here are the treasures of Taylor’s little “miss”, Rielyn Chase Bernard and her fiance, Nathan and his son, Tristen.

So I have really been behind on blogging. Between finishing school, family and moving back to Nome, I have been more than kept busy. Now that I have my computer set back up, I am back on my feet! I appreciate the patience with my lack of posts. But here is  a post that will put a smile on your face for sure. Sarah Millar, what a sweet heart!!! I was lucky enough to capture these amazing images with her first pregnancy, which blessed her and her husband with a healthy sized baby girl :) . Anyway, the images speak for themselves. What a priceless photo shoot. Enjoy!

Chloe Mattheis Senior 2012

Image

My little dove, Chloe is finally a senior. It is funny, I totally thought that she was a senior (for a second) last year when I did her photo shoot in the fall of 2010! Well, this was her senior (for reals) photo shoot :) She has been quite the visitor to Anchorage so we were lucky enough to sneak a session in. I am always pleased to share photos of such a lovely young lady. Good luck Chloe as you will do great in whatever you do! Love you :)
